Senior Payroll Specialist Spain

In this role, you will manage monthly payrolls for Spain-based entities, ensuring compliance with Spanish labour laws and coordinating with external providers. You’ll handle year-end payroll closures, expatriate payrolls with Global Mobility and Tax advisers, and oversee taxes, social charges, pensions, and insurance payments.You’ll respond to HR and employee queries while maintaining accurate and efficient payroll processes. This position sits in AstraZeneca’s global, agile payroll team delivering accurate, timely compensation at scale.
Compensaciones / Beneficios- Process monthly payrolls for Spain entities in coordination with external payroll providers
- Prepare and issue payroll instructions to external providers and monitor results for accuracy
- Ensure stock plan adjustments are processed through the country payroll per Spanish legislation
- Process payroll for expatriate employees with Global Mobility and Tax advisers
- Coordinate taxes, social charges, pensions, and insurance payments
- Respond to HR and employee queries regarding payrolls
- Support year-end payroll closures and payroll audit coordination
- Proven track record in payroll processing under Spanish labour regulations
- Strong understanding of European payroll regulations, especially Spanish systems
- Excellent English (C1/C2) and Spanish (B2/C1) communication skills
- Ability to manage high volume of employee queries
- Strong attention to detail and analytical ability
- Ability to translate business needs into pragmatic solutions and implement them
- Strong organizational skills; ability to work independently under pressure
- Experience with time and attendance systems
- Knowledge of accounting principles and experience with expatriates
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
