Experteer Overview
As a Senior Data Scientist in SumUp’s Credit Risk Analytics team, you will enhance existing credit risk models and ensure reliable, scalable decisions as we grow into new markets. You’ll work hands-on in day-to-day lending decisions, balancing risk and revenue while advancing model deployment and ML infrastructure.The role combines deep analytics with close collaboration with engineering and risk teams to sustain portfolio integrity. You’ll influence end-to-end improvements and data-driven decisions that support our global lending platform.
Compensaciones / Beneficios- Iterate on existing credit risk models to boost stability and predictive power and support risk decisions
- Develop, test, and deploy new model versions in partnership with Credit Risk Engineering
- Improve ML pipelines and workflows to reduce maintenance and failure modes
- Evaluate and integrate new data sources (e.g., credit bureaus, open banking) into models
- Monitor production model performance and investigate anomalies to protect portfolio integrity
- Document work, participate in reviews and design discussions to uphold high-quality standards
- 5+ years as a Data Scientist (or 7+ years in data-related fields with at least 3 years in Data Science)
- Strong foundations in statistics, probability, and ML concepts
- Proficient in Python (pandas, PySpark, scikit-learn) and SQL for data retrieval and manipulation
- Proven end-to-end ML model development and deployment at scale
- Experience with credit risk, lending, or financial decisioning models
- Solid software engineering practices with clean, maintainable, tested code and version control
- Collaborative team player able to disagree and commit
- Fluency in English with clear communication to diverse stakeholders
