You’ll own planning and delivery, collaborate with design, product, and leadership, and help drive operational excellence and technical debt reduction. This role offers ownership, a strong impact on customers, and the chance to contribute to Personio’s growth as a leading tech company in HR tech.

• Develop and enhance backend features to support customer setup and lifecycle with reliable performance
• Build scalable, high-performance backend solutions using Kotlin and Spring Boot in a distributed systems context
• Contribute to a high-output team through coding and collaborative practices like pair/mob programming
• Own estimation, scoping, and planning; collaborate with Product Management and Leadership on strategic initiatives
• Ensure availability, performance, security, observability, and incident response; reduce technical debt and simplify architecture
• Coordinate with Design System and Design teams to align UI components with backend capabilities
• Participate in interviewing/hiring and contribute to team growth
• Maintain on-call responsibilities and drive operational excellence across implementation and support services

• Strong backend engineering experience in JVM languages (Kotlin preferred) and distributed systems
• Deep backend development expertise; Kotlin experience is a plus
• Experience with testing strategies, observability, and security considerations
• Ability to maintain high-availability applications, performance, and reliability
• Proven mentoring and coaching skills; strong cross-team communication
• Comfortable in a highly collaborative environment; willingness to be on-call and own operational responsibilities
