Technical Director - Primary Substations (T&D)

You’ll influence design strategies, oversee critical deliverables, and engage with clients and stakeholders on major grid reinforcement and renewable integration initiatives. This is an opportunity to shape high‑impact substations within a global engineering leader.

• Act as technical authority for primary substation engineering across projects
• Provide oversight for HV/EHV primary systems design (AIS/GIS), equipment layouts and interfaces
• Define engineering strategies aligned with standards and client specs
• Oversee development of key deliverables (general arrangements, layouts, busbar, sizing, clearances, insulation coordination, short-circuit studies)
• Provide guidance on integration of HV equipment (circuit breakers, transformers, reactive compensation)
• Lead design reviews and ensure engineering governance and compliance
• Coordinate across major infrastructure programs and ensure cross-discipline alignment
• Support construction, testing, commissioning, and issue resolution in the field
• Develop engineering teams and promote continuous improvement and knowledge sharing
• Engage with clients, contractors and suppliers as senior technical interface
• Contribute to technical proposals and major project bids

• 15-20+ years in HV primary substation engineering
• Proven delivery of large transmission/distribution substation projects across multiple phases
• Demonstrated technical leadership and governance across engineering teams
• Experience supporting major infrastructure programs and multidisciplinary delivery
• Strong expertise in HV/EHV substation design (AIS/GIS) and related analyses
